Grinding stabilizing additive for vertical roller mills

A method of manufacturing a cement composition, comprising:

• grinding a solid comprising a cement clinker in a vertical roller mill (VRM) under a water spray in the presence of a grinding stabilizing additive, thereby preparing the cement composition;
• wherein the grinding stabilizing additive comprises:
• (a) tripropylene glycol (TPG) in the amount of 0.001%-0.1% based on dry weight of the solid being ground, and
• (b) triethanolamine (TEA) in the amount of 0.0025%—0.020% based on dry weight of the solid being ground,
• wherein the pre-hydration level of the cement composition (Wk) is equal to or less than 1.5%, and
• wherein the water spray level is reduced by 5% to 80% compared to grinding without the grinding stabilizing additive.

A method of manufacturing a cement composition, comprising:

• grinding a solid comprising a cement clinker in a vertical roller mill (VRM) under a water spray in the presence of a grinding stabilizing additive, thereby preparing the cement composition;
• wherein the grinding stabilizing additive comprises:
• tripropylene glycol (TPG);
• and
• triethanolamine (TEA),
• wherein the pre-hydration level of the cement composition (Wk) is equal to or less than 1.5%.
