Therapeutic compounds and uses thereof

A compound of the formula (III):

• or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, polymorph, prodrug, solvate or clathrate thereof wherein:
• each R1 is independently H, halo, alkyl, alkoxy, aryl, aryloxy, amino, S(O)nR1, nitro, cyano, heterocyclyl or two R1 groups on adjacent atoms can form an aryl or a heterocyclyl group together with the atoms to which they are attached;
• n is 0, 1, or 2;
• X1 and X1a are each independently O, N or NR4, wherein R4 is H, alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl;
• X6 and X7 are each independently N or CR5, wherein R5 can be H or R1;
• X8 is NR4a, wherein R4a is H, alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl;
• R6 and R7 are each, independently, alkyl or, together with the carbon atom to which they are attached, form a cycloalkyl or a heterocyclyl;
• and
• R8 is alkyl, alkoxy, aryl or heteroaryl.

A compound of the formula (IV):

• or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, polymorph, prodrug, solvate or clathrate thereof wherein:
• X1 and X1a are each independently O, N or NR4, wherein R4 is H, alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl;
• X6 and X7 are each independently N or CR5, wherein R5 can be H or R1;
• X8 is NR4a, wherein R4a is H, alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl;
• R6 and R7 are each, independently, alkyl or, together with the carbon atom to which they are attached, form a cycloalkyl or a heterocyclyl;
• R9 is alkyl (e.g., methyl and ethyl), haloalkyl (e.g., CF3), alkoxy, haloalkoxy (e.g., OCF3), aryloxy, cycloalkyl or heteroaryl;
• and
• each R10 is, independently, alkyl, aryl or arylalkyl.
