Abstract
Disclosed is a novel transition metal compound that exhibits excellent catalytic activity in polyethylene polymerization and is useful for preparing polyethylene having a high intramolecular short-chain branch content without deteriorating physical properties such as molecular weight, melting point, and density; a catalyst composition comprising the same; and a method for preparing polyethylene using the same.

A transition metal compound represented by Chemical Formula 1:
- wherein in Chemical Formula 1,
- A is a Group 14 element,
- M is a Group 4 transition metal,
- R1 and R2 are the same as or different from each other, and are each independently hydrogen, C1-20 alkyl, C2-20 alkenyl, C1-20 alkylsilyl, C1-20 silylalkyl, C1-20 alkoxysilyl, C1-20 alkoxy, C6-20 aryl, C7-20 alkylaryl, or C7-20 arylalkyl,
- X1 and X2 are the same or different from each other, and are each independently halogen, and
- Q1 and Q2 are the same as or different from each other, and are each independently C1-20 alkyl.
