Abstract
Disclosed herein are compositions and methods related to a packaging laminate comprising: a first polymeric layer formed form a composition including polypropylene copolymer and/or a high density polyethylene (HDPE) resin; and a second polymeric layer formed from a composition including a high density polyethylene (HDPE) resin, a linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) resin, a low density polyethylene (LDPE), and/or LDPE/HDPE copolymer with a coextruded ethyl vinyl alcohol (EVOH) and compatibilizer. Recyclable packaging containers formed of the packaging laminates are also disclosed.
Claims17
A recyclable packaging container formed of a laminate, the laminate comprising:
- a first layer, constituting an outer layer of the packaging laminate and having a first thickness, formed from a first composition comprising a polypropylene copolymer;
- and
- a second layer, constituting an inner layer of the packaging laminate and having a second thickness, formed from a second composition comprising a plastomer, ethyl vinyl alcohol, and a compatibilizer, wherein the second thickness is greater than the first thickness.
A recyclable packaging container formed from a laminate, wherein the laminate comprises:
- an outer layer having a first thickness, a first side and a second side, and formed from a first composition, wherein the first composition comprises polypropylene copolymer;
- and
- an inside layer having second thickness greater than the first thickness and formed from a second composition, wherein the inside layer is adjacent to the second side of the outer layer, and wherein the second composition comprises a resin selected from the group consisting of a high density polyethylene, linear low density polyethylene, low density polyethylene, low density polyethylene/high density polyethylene copolymer, and combinations thereof, ethyl vinyl alcohol, and a compatibilizer, and wherein the ethyl vinyl alcohol and compatibilizer are present in the second composition in a 1:1 ratio.
A recyclable packaging container formed of a laminate, wherein the laminate comprises:
- a first layer, constituting an outer layer of the packaging laminate having a first thickness, a first side, and a second side, formed from a first composition comprising a polypropylene-ethylene copolymer;
- and
- a second layer, constituting an inner layer of the packaging laminate and having a second thickness, wherein the second layer faces the second side of the first layer, formed from a second composition comprising a plastomer, ethyl vinyl alcohol, and a compatibilizer, wherein the second thickness is greater than the first thickness,
- wherein a degassing valve is attached to the first side, and wherein the second side comprises reverse printing.
