Abstract
A method for venting a spray-cooled roof of a ladle metallurgical furnace is provided herein. The method begins by processing molten metal materials in a ladle metallurgical furnace having a spray-cooled roof with an opening configured for one or more electrodes to pass there through and an integrated hood. Process gases and fumes are extracted through a channel having walls disposed within an enclosed space of the spray-cooled roof. The walls of the channel are cooled with a spray-cool system extends between the walls of the channel and a top of the spray-cooled roof.
Claims15
A method for venting a spray-cooled roof of a ladle metallurgical furnace:
- processing molten metal materials in a ladle metallurgical furnace having a spray-cooled roof with an opening configured for one or more electrodes to pass there through and an integrated hood;
- extracting process gases and fumes through a channel having walls disposed within an enclosed space of the spray-cooled roof;
- and
- cooling the walls of the channel with a spray-cool system extends between the walls of the channel and a top of the spray-cooled roof.
A method for cooling a channel for venting fumes in a spray-cooled roof of a ladle metallurgical furnace:
- extracting process gases and fumes into a channel fluidly coupled to an opening in a spray-cooled roof, the opening configured for one or more electrodes to melt molten metal materials in the ladle metallurgical furnace;
- and
- cooling one or more walls of the channel with a spray-cool system.
