A cyclopentyl-modified PNA comprising a PNA backbone and a plurality of pendant nucleobases, at least one of said pendent bases is a surrogate base and wherein one or more cyclopentyl groups are provided in proximity to said surrogate base, wherein the surrogate base is a monomethine dye.
A cyclopentyl-modified forced-intercalation-peptide nucleic acid molecule (FIT-PNA) comprising a PNA backbone and a plurality of pendant nucleobases, at least one of said pendent bases is a surrogate base selected amongst monomethine dyes and wherein one or more cyclopentyl groups are provided in proximity to said surrogate base.
