Abstract
Provided are methods and compositions to control growth of weed plants. The compositions include an herbicidally effective amount of an herbicidally active chemical compound and a thiocyanate, together with an herbicidally acceptable diluent, carrier or excipient. The thiocyanate preparation can be provided in the form of a glucosinolate hydrolysate obtained from Sinapis alba plant material. Methods of making and using the formulations are also provided.
Claims30
A method for controlling growth of a weed plant, the method comprising co-applying an herbicidally effective amount of an herbicidally active chemical compound and an herbicidally effective amount of a thiocyanate to a weed plant to thereby control growth of the weed plant.

A method according to claim 26, wherein the herbicidally active chemical compound is 1) N-(phosphomethyl)glycine (glyphosate) which is applied at a rate of from about 5 gram to about 550 gram herbicidally active chemical compound per acre;
- 2) 3,6-dichloro-2-methoxybenzoic acid (dicamba), which is applied at a rate of from about 500 gram to about 950 gram herbicidally active chemical compound per acre;
- 3) 2,4-diclorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D), which is applied at a rate of from about 100 gram to about 250 gram herbicidally active chemical compound per acre;
- 4) (R,S)-2-amino-4-(hydroxymethyl)phosphonoyl)butanoic acid (glufosinate;
- phosphinotricin), which is applied at a rate of from about 450 gram to about 890 gram herbicidally active chemical compound per hectare;
- or 5) met2-{[4-methoxy-6-methyl-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl)amino]-oxomethyl]sulfamoyl}benzoic acid methyl ester (metsulfuron methyl), which is applied at a rate of from about 9 gram to about 30 gram herbicidally active chemical compound per acre.
