Systems and methods for replicating traffic statistics on redundant packet forwarding engine system

A device, comprising:

• one or more memories;
• and
• one or more processors to:
• determine a failure of a primary component or one or more primary packet forwarding engines;
• perform, based on determining the failure of the primary component or the one or more primary packet forwarding engines, a switchover from the primary component to a backup component to cause the backup component and one or more backup packet forwarding engines to operate as the primary component and primary packet forwarding engines;
• read, based on performing the switchover, one or more counters associated with the backup packet forwarding engines to obtain residual data;
• and
• determine, based on performing the switchover, switchover traffic data based on modifying the residual data using host transmitted traffic data.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing a set of instructions, the set of instructions comprising:

• one or more instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a device, cause the device to:
• determine a failure of a primary component or one or more primary packet forwarding engines;
• perform, based on determining the failure of the primary component or the one or more primary packet forwarding engines, a switchover from the primary component to a backup component to cause the backup component and one or more backup packet forwarding engines to operate as the primary component and primary packet forwarding engines;
• read, based on performing the switchover, one or more counters associated with the backup packet forwarding engines to obtain residual data;
• and
• determine, based on performing the switchover, switchover traffic data based on adding the residual data to host transmitted traffic data.
