Abstract
A method and system determine the characteristics of drive devices and load devices in selected pixels in an array of pixels in a display in which each pixel includes a drive device for supplying current to a load device. The method and system supply current to the load device via the drive device in a selected pixel, the current being a function of a current effective characteristic of at least one of the drive device and the load device; measure the current via a measurement line that is shared by adjacent pixels, and extract the value of a selected effective characteristic of one of the drive and load devices from the effect of the current on another of the drive and load devices. Current may be measured via a read transistor in each pixel.

A method of measuring a light-emitting device in a selected pixel in an array of pixels in a display, the selected pixel including a drive transistor for supplying current to said light-emitting device, said method comprising:
- at a first time, supplying a first current to said light-emitting device, and measuring said first current;
- at a second time, supplying a second current to said light-emitting device, and measuring said second current, one of the first and second currents being a function of the effective voltage VOLED of said light-emitting device, the other of the first and second currents being independent of the effective voltage VOLED of said light-emitting device;
- and
- measuring the effective voltage VOLED of said light-emitting device, with use of said measured first and second currents.
A system for measuring a light-emitting device of a selected pixel in an array of pixels in a display, the selected pixel including a drive transistor for supplying current to the light-emitting device, the system comprising a controller adapted to:
- at a first time, supply a first current to said light-emitting device, and measure said first current;
- at a second time, supply a second current to said light-emitting device, and measure said second current, one of the first and second currents being a function of the effective voltage VOLED of said light-emitting device, the other of the first and second currents being independent of the effective voltage VOLED of said light-emitting device;
- and
- measure the effective voltage VOLED of said light-emitting device, with use of said measured first and second currents.
