Abstract
A system includes a memory configured to store a first acoustic profile associated with a device. The first acoustic profile includes at least two of the following acoustic characteristics: frequency, amplitude, and time. The system further includes a processor communicatively coupled to the memory and an acoustic sensor. The processor is configured to receive, from the acoustic sensor, an acoustic signal comprising one or more of the frequency and amplitude, compare the received acoustic signal to the first acoustic profile, and determine that the received acoustic signal matches the first acoustic profile based on the comparison of the received acoustic signal to the first acoustic profile.

A system comprising:
- a first device operable to:
- couple to a power tool;
- and
- generate a first acoustic signal when the power tool is operated;
- one or more acoustic sensors operable to detect the first acoustic signal generated by the first device;
- one or more memories operable to store a first acoustic profile associated with the first device, wherein the first acoustic profile includes characteristics associated with the first acoustic signal such that the first acoustic profile can be compared to the first acoustic signal;
- and
- one or more processors operable to compare the first acoustic signal to the first acoustic profile and determine whether the first acoustic signal matches the first acoustic profile.
A method comprising:
- receiving, from one or more acoustic sensors, a first acoustic signal from a first device coupled to a power tool;
- accessing, from one or more memories, a first acoustic profile associated with the first device, wherein the first acoustic profile includes characteristics associated with the first acoustic signal such that the first acoustic profile can be compared to the first acoustic signal;
- and
- comparing the first acoustic signal to the first acoustic profile with one or more processors;
- and
- determine whether the first acoustic signal matches the first acoustic profile.
A system comprising a non-transitory computer accessible storage medium storing thereupon program code that includes a sequence of instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, causes the one or more processors to:
- receive from one or more acoustic sensors a first signal representative of a first acoustic signal from a first device coupled to a power tool;
- compare the first acoustic signal to a first acoustic profile associated with the first device stored in one or more memories, wherein the first acoustic profile includes characteristics associated with the first acoustic signal such that the first acoustic profile can be compared to the first acoustic signal;
- and
- determine whether the first acoustic signal matches the first acoustic profile.
