Abstract
The various implementations described herein include systems and methods for determining that media items are currently being presented. In one aspect, a method performed at a client device includes: (1) identifying a media item potentially being presented on an output device coupled to the client device; (2) calculating a level of confidence that the identified media item is currently being presented to the user; (3) subsequent to the calculating, determining that at least one predetermined event associated with user interaction with the media item has occurred; and (4) based on the at least one predetermined event, increasing or decreasing the level of confidence that the identified media item is currently being presented to the user.
Claims20
A method for determining a level of confidence that an identified media item is currently being presented to a user, comprising:
- receiving a confidence level associated with a media item that is being presented on a media device;
- modifying the confidence level based on a determining that at least one predetermined event associated with user interaction with the media device has occurred;
- and
- recommending related media content that is related to the media item being presented on the media device based on the modified confidence level being greater than a confidence threshold.
A media device comprising:
- at least one processor that is configured to:
- receive a confidence level associated with a media item that is being presented on a media device;
- modify the confidence level based on a determining that at least one predetermined event associated with user interaction with the media device has occurred;
- and
- recommend related media content that is related to the media item being presented on the media device based on the modified confidence level being greater than a confidence threshold.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium containing computer executable instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform a method, the method comprising:
- receiving a confidence level associated with a media item that is being presented on a media device;
- modifying the confidence level based on a determining that at least one predetermined event associated with user interaction with the media device has occurred;
- and
- recommending related media content that is related to the media item being presented on the media device based on the modified confidence level being greater than a confidence threshold.
