Abstract
Devices and techniques are disclosed herein for more efficiently exchanging large amounts of data between a host and a storage system. In an example, a read command can optionally include a read-type indicator. The read-type indicator can allow for exchange of a large amount of data between the host and the storage system using a single read command.

A memory device comprising:
- a memory array;
- and
- a controller, configured to perform operations comprising:
- receiving a read command from a host device, wherein the read command comprises a location identifier for retrieving read data from the memory array;
- determining that the read command comprises an indication indicating a read-type;
- in response to the indication being a certain value:
- identifying a parameter list received from the host device, wherein the parameter list comprises one or more location identifiers for retrieving additional read data from the memory array;
- retrieving the read data and the additional read data from the memory array using the location identifier and the one or more location identifiers;
- and
- transmitting the read data and the additional read data to the host device.
A controller of a memory device, the controller is configured to perform operations comprising:
- receiving a read command from a host device, wherein the read command comprising a location identifier for retrieving read data;
- determining that the read command comprises an indication indicating a read-type;
- in response to the indication being a certain value:
- identifying a parameter list received from the host device, wherein the parameter list comprises one or more location identifiers for retrieving additional read data;
- retrieving the read data and the additional read data from the memory device using the location identifier and the one or more location identifiers;
- and
- transmitting the read data and the additional read data to the host device.
A non-transitory machine-readable medium, storing instructions, which when executed by a memory device, causes the memory device to perform operations comprising:
- receiving a read command from a host device, wherein the read command comprising a location identifier for retrieving read data;
- determining that the read command comprises an indication indicating a read-type;
- in response to the indication being a certain value:
- identifying a parameter list received from the host device, wherein the parameter list comprises one or more location identifiers for retrieving additional read data;
- retrieving the read data and the additional read data from the memory device using the location identifier and the one or more location identifiers;
- and
- transmitting the read data and the additional read data to the host device.
