Abstract
The invention pertains to a Liquid Crystalline Polyester (LCP) and thermoplastic compositions comprising such LPC, exhibiting low dielectric constant and dissipation factors and being suitable for mobile electronic device components, for example films or structural components.
Claims17
A liquid crystalline polyester (LCP), comprising:
- from 40 to 98 mol. % of repeat units of formula (I):
- from 1 to 20 mol. % of repeat units of formula (II):
- and
- from 1 to 12 mol. % of repeat units of formula (III):
- based on the total number of moles in the LCP.
A method to control the melting temperature (Tm) and crystallization temperature (Tc) of a liquid crystalline polyester (LCP), while maintaining liquid crystallinity, comprising introducing a molar ratio of cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid (CHDA) to a liquid crystalline polyester (LCP) comprising at least from 40 to 98 mol. % of 6-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid (HNA) or 6-acetoxy-2-naphthoic acid (AcHNA) and at least 1 to 20 mol. % of one dihydroxy aromatic compound, wherein the molar ratio of CHDA is between 1 and 12 mol. %, said mol. % being based on the total number of moles in the LCP.
