Abstract
The present invention provides bicyclic compounds, pharmaceutical formulations of the compounds, and methods of using the formulations in the treatment or prevention of cancers mediated by cyclic-AMP (cAMP) response element binding protein (CREB), such as leukemias, breast cancer, lung cancer, and prostate cancer.

A compound comprising the formula:
- wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, and R5 are independently selected to be H, Cl, F, Br, I, CN, or NO2;
- X is —NH—C(O)—, —C(O)—, or —O—;
- n is 1, 2, 3, or 4;
- and
- m is 3 or 4, and its salts, solvates, and prodrugs thereof.
A pharmaceutical composition comprising a compound of formula:
- wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, and R5 are independently selected to be H, Cl, F, Br, I, CN, or NO2;
- X is —NH—C(O)—, —C(O)—, or —O—;
- n is 1, 2, 3, or 4;
- m is 3 or 4, and its salts, solvates, and prodrugs thereof, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
A method of treating or preventing a cancer in a patient in need thereof, the method comprising administering to a patient a therapeutically effective amount of a compound that inhibits cyclic-AMP (cAMP) response element binding protein (CREB).
The method of claim 15 wherein administering comprises oral dosage form.
The method of claim 15, wherein the cancer is a leukemia, breast cancer, or lung cancer.
The method of claim 17, wherein the patient is human.
