Composite manufacturing system and method

A composite manufacturing method comprising steps of:

• measuring first locating targets, second locating targets, and a series of line profiles of a lamination surface of a lamination tool;
• generating master surface-data and master target-data, wherein:
• the master target-data is representative of target positions of the first locating targets and the second locating targets;
• the master surface-data is representative of profile positions of the line profiles of the lamination surface;
• each one of the line profiles is associated with and extends between one of a plurality of target pairs;
• and
• each one of the target pairs comprises one of the first locating targets and an opposing one of the second locating targets;
• generating a master file that establishes a spatial relationship between the master target-data and the master surface-data;
• and
• associating the master file with the lamination tool.

A computer system for a composite manufacturing system, the computer system comprising a processor unit coupled to a storage device, comprising program code that is executable by the processor unit to:

• instruct a computer-aided measuring system to measure a plurality of first locating targets, a plurality of second locating targets, and a series of line profiles of a lamination surface of a lamination tool and to generate master surface-data and master target-data, wherein:
• the master target-data is representative of target positions of the first locating targets and the second locating targets;
• the master surface-data is representative of profile positions of the line profiles of the lamination surface;
• each one of the line profiles is associated with and extends between one of a plurality of target pairs;
• and
• each one of the target pairs comprises one of the first locating targets and an opposing one of the second locating targets;
• generate a master file that establishes a spatial relationship between the master target-data and the master surface-data;
• and
• associate the master file with the lamination tool.
