Abstract
Compositions for use in golf balls and golf balls including such compositions that have increased shear durability. Such compositions include a blend of at least two thermoplastic elastomers.
Claims20
A golf ball, comprising:
- a core;
- and
- a cover, wherein the cover is formed from a thermoplastic elastomer composition comprising a first thermoplastic elastomer present in an amount of about 90 to about 99 weight percent by weight and a second thermoplastic elastomer present in an amount of about 1 to about 10 weight percent based on the total weight of the thermoplastic elastomer composition, and wherein the second thermoplastic elastomer comprises polyether block amide.
A golf ball, comprising:
- a core;
- a layer disposed on the core;
- and
- a cover disposed on the layer, wherein the cover is formed from a thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer present in an amount of about 90 to about 99 weight percent by weight and a second thermoplastic elastomer present in an amount of about 1 to about 10 weight percent based on the total weight of the thermoplastic elastomer composition, wherein the thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer comprises polyether segments, and wherein the second thermoplastic elastomer comprises polyether and polyamide blocks.

A golf ball, comprising:
- a core;
- and
- a cover, wherein the cover is formed from a thermoplastic elastomer composition comprising a first thermoplastic elastomer present in an amount of about 80 to about 99 weight percent by weight and a second thermoplastic elastomer present in an amount of about 1 to about 20 weight percent based on the total weight of the thermoplastic elastomer composition, and wherein the second thermoplastic elastomer comprises polyether-ester block copolymer.
