Extruded particle

A process for preparing an extruded particle, the process comprising the following steps:

• a) mixing at least a carrier material and a plasticizer to form a mixture;
• b) heating the mixture at a temperature sufficient to form a molten mass;
• c) extruding the molten mass through a die to form an extrudate;
• d) cutting the extrudate to form an extruded particle,
• wherein a solid fat having a melting point Tm and an active ingredient, preferably comprising a flavor or a perfume, are added to the mixture in step a) and/or in the molten mass in step b), and
• wherein at least step c) and step d) are carried out at a temperature greater than Tm.
