Abstract
A dynamic rate identification system receives an indication of a route for a user device and identifies one or more network sectors based on the route. The dynamic rate identification system determines a dynamic rate for each network sector based on the route, and identifies at least one hotspot that a user device is able to access while the user device travels along the route. The dynamic rate identification system causes the user device to transmit user device data when the user device is able to access the hotspot.
Claims19
A system, comprising:
- at least one processor;
- at least one memory coupled to the at least one processor, the memory having computer-executable instructions stored thereon that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the system to:
- receive an indication of a route for a user device;
- identify one or more network sectors that the route passes through;
- and
- for each respective network sector of the one or more network sectors:
- determine a time period during which the user device will be located within the respective network sector based on the route;
- identify a cost for networking services to be provided to the user device based on the time period during which the user device will be located within the respective network sector;
- determine a dynamic rate for the user device to access the networking services based on the cost for networking services for the respective network sector;
- identify at least one hotspot within the respective network sector that the user device is able to access while the user device travels along the route;
- and
- cause the user device to transmit user device data via the at least one hotspot when the user device is able to access the at least one hotspot based on the dynamic rate.
A method, comprising:
- receiving an indication of a route for a user device;
- identifying one or more network sectors with which the route intersects;
- and
- for each respective network sector of the one or more network sectors:
- determining a time period during which the user device will be accessing network resources provided within the respective network sector based on the route;
- identifying a cost for networking services to be provided to the user device based on the time period during which the user device will be accessing network resources provided within the respective network sector;
- determine a dynamic rate for the user device to access the networking services based on the cost for networking services for the respective network sector;
- identify at least one hotspot within the respective network sector to which the user device is able to connect while the user device travels along the route;
- and
- cause the user device to transmit user device data via the at least one hotspot when the user device is able to connect to the at least one hotspot based on the dynamic rate.
The method of 11, wherein the plurality of hotspots include hotspots to which the user device has previously been connected.
A non-transitory processor-readable storage medium that stores at least one of instructions or data, the instructions or data, when executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to:
- receive an indication of a location of a user device;
- identify a network sector within which the user device is located based on the location of the user device;
- and
- identifying a cost for networking services to be provided to the user device based on the location of the user device;
- determine a dynamic rate for the user device to access the networking services based on the cost for networking services;
- identify at least one hotspot within the network sector to which the user device is able to connect;
- and
- cause the user device to transmit user device data via the at least one hotspot when the user device is connected to the at least one hotspot based on the dynamic rate.
The method of 17, wherein the plurality of hotspots include hotspots to which the user device has previously been connected.
