Message display method and electronic device

A message display method, carried out by an electronic device, wherein an instant messaging application is installed on the electronic device, and wherein the method comprises:

• displaying a first user chat interface of the instant messaging application that comprises a first video message comprising a first region and a second region, wherein:
• the first video message is associated with a first video,
• the first video comprises first audio and at least one frame of first image,
• the first region corresponds to the first audio, and
• the second region corresponds to the at least one frame of first image;
• playing the first video in accordance with a position of an operation performed by a user on the first video message such that the first video is played;
• and
• in a first manner in accordance with the operation being performed on the first region;
• and
• in a second manner in accordance with the operation being performed on the second region.

An electronic device, comprising:

• at least one processor;
• and
• at least one memory storing one or more computer programs comprising instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the electronic device to perform a method comprising:
• displaying a first user chat interface of the instant messaging application that comprises a first video message comprising a first region and a second region, wherein:
• the first video message is associated with a first video,
• the first video comprises first audio and at least one frame of first image,
• the first region corresponds to the first audio, and
• the second region corresponds to the at least one frame of first image;
• and
• playing the first video in accordance with a position of an operation performed by a user on the first video message such that the first video is played:
• in a first manner in accordance with an operation performed by a user on the first region;
• and
• in a second manner in accordance with an operation being performed on the second region.
