Topology recommendation platform for application architecture

A computer system comprising:

• a processing system comprising a processor;
• and
• computer memory having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon, which, when executed by the processing system, cause the processing system to execute actions comprising:
• receiving an original topology that indicates a first design for an application, wherein the first design is associated with a functionality for the application;
• receiving experimental results corresponding to a fault-injection experiment performed on the original topology, the experimental results indicating a first resiliency score associated with the original topology;
• providing the first resiliency score and the original topology to a machine learning (ML) model trained on resiliency scores for multiple different application topologies;
• receiving as output from the ML model, a recommended topology that indicates an alternative design for the application, wherein the recommended topology is associated with a second resiliency score that is greater than the first resiliency score, and the alternative design is associated with the functionality for the application;
• and
• providing the recommended topology.

Computer storage media storing computer-useable instructions that, when used by a computing system, cause the computing system to perform actions comprising:

• receiving an original topology that indicates a first design for an application, the first design being associated with a functionality for the application;
• receiving experimental results corresponding to a fault-injection experiment performed on the original topology, the experimental results indicating a first resiliency score associated with the original topology;
• providing the first resiliency score and the original topology to a machine learning (ML) model trained on resiliency scores for multiple different application topologies;
• receiving as output from the ML model, a recommended topology that indicates an alternative design for the application, wherein the recommended topology is associated with a second resiliency score that is greater than the first resiliency score, and the alternative design is associated with the functionality for the application;
• and
• providing the recommended topology.
