Abstract
A printing apparatus includes a first receiving unit configured to receive a first print job from a print server, a second receiving unit configured to receive a second print job from an information processing apparatus within a local area network, a print unit configured to perform printing that is based on the first print job and printing that is based on the second print job, a storage unit configured to store a private key and a digital certificate, and a transmission unit configured to transmit the digital certificate to the information processing apparatus within the local area network. The digital certificate includes a public key paired with the private key, and an electronic signature created by the print server.
Claims11
A printing apparatus comprising:
- a first receiving unit configured to receive a first print job from a print server;
- a second receiving unit configured to receive a second print job from an information processing apparatus within a local area network;
- a print unit configured to perform printing that is based on the first print job and printing that is based on the second print job;
- a storage unit configured to store a private key and a digital certificate;
- and
- a transmission unit configured to transmit the digital certificate to the information processing apparatus within the local area network,
- wherein the digital certificate includes a public key paired with the private key, and an electronic signature created by the print server.
A system that includes a printing apparatus and an information processing apparatus, wherein
- the printing apparatus includes:
- a first receiving unit configured to receive a first print job from a print server;
- a second receiving unit configured to receive a second print job from the information processing apparatus within a local area network;
- a print unit configured to perform printing that is based on the first print job and printing that is based on the second print job;
- a storage unit configured to store a private key and a first digital certificate;
- and
- a transmission unit configured to transmit the first digital certificate to the information processing apparatus within the local area network,
- wherein the first digital certificate includes a public key paired with the private key and an electronic signature created by the print server, and
- the information processing apparatus includes:
- a third receiving unit configured to receive a second digital certificate associated with a logical printer that is provided by the print server;
- a fourth receiving unit configured to receive the first digital certificate from the printing apparatus;
- and
- a determination unit configured to determine whether or not the printing apparatus is associated with the logical printer, based on a result of comparing the first digital certificate with the second digital certificate.
