Integrated surveillance radar system

A method of vehicle navigation, the method comprising:

• controlling, by processing circuitry, a camera to search for an object within a first field of view;
• receiving, by the processing circuitry and from the camera, a first direction and a first range of the object, wherein the first direction has a first direction resolution and the first range has a first range resolution;
• controlling, by the processing circuitry, a phased array radar to search for the object based on the first direction and the first range and within a second field of view that is smaller than the first field of view;
• receiving, by the processing circuitry and from the phased array radar, a second range of the object, wherein the second range has a second range resolution that is finer than the first range resolution;
• outputting, by the processing circuitry, at least one of the first direction or the second range;
• and
• navigating, based on the at least one of the second direction or the first range, the vehicle.

A system, comprising:

• a camera;
• a phased array radar;
• and
• processing circuitry configured to:
• control the phased array radar to search for an object within a first field of view;
• receive, from the phased array radar, a first direction and a first range of the object, wherein the first direction has a first direction resolution and the first range has a first range resolution;
• control the camera to search for the object based on the first direction and the first range and within a second field of view that is smaller than the first field of view;
• receive, from the camera, a second direction of the object, wherein the second direction has a second direction resolution that is finer than the first direction resolution;
• output at least one of the second direction or the first range;
• and
• navigate, based on the at least one of the second direction or the first range, the vehicle.
