Hybrid tactical engagement simulation system

A method for executing a simulation of a tactical engagement, the method comprising:

• receiving a first set of data comprising an indication that a laser sensor worn by one of a plurality of participants in the simulation was struck by a laser transmitted from a firearm of a plurality of firearms, wherein each firearm of the plurality of firearms is associated to a participant of the plurality of participants;
• receiving a second set of data from the firearm of the plurality of firearms where the laser was transmitted from, wherein the second set of data comprises data generated by an image capture device of the firearm, wherein the data includes an indication that one or more of the plurality of participants are present in the data;
• retrieving, from a data storage, a third set of data comprising position information and velocity information on the one or more of the plurality of participants that are present in the second set of data;
• identifying a target participant from the one or more of the plurality of participants identified in the second set of data, wherein identifying the target participant is based on the third set of data;
• determining whether the target participant is struck by a simulated ammunition round fired from the firearm, wherein the determination is based on the third set of data;
• and
• determining a final outcome for the tactical engagement, wherein the determination is based on comparing the indication that the laser sensor was struck by the laser, the determination on whether the target participant is struck by the simulated ammunition round, and the determination on whether the second target participant is struck by the simulated ammunition round to one another and determining which is most accurate for a predefined scenario that the tactical engagement is in.

A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing one or more programs for executing a simulation of a tactical engagement, the programs for execution by one or more processors of a remote computing device that when executed by the device, cause the device to:

• receive a first set of data comprising an indication that a laser sensor worn by one of a plurality of participants in the simulation was struck by a laser transmitted from a firearm of a plurality of firearms, wherein each firearm of the plurality of firearms is associated to a participant of the plurality of participants;
• receive a second set of data from the firearm of the plurality of firearms where the laser was transmitted from, wherein the second set of data comprises data generated by an image capture device of the firearm, wherein the data includes an indication that one or more of the plurality of participants are present in the data;
• retrieve, from a data storage, a third set of data comprising position information and velocity information on the one or more of the plurality of participants that are present in the second set of data;
• identify a target participant from the one or more of the plurality of participants identified in the second set of data, wherein identifying the target participant is based on the third set of data;
• determine whether the target participant is struck by a simulated ammunition round fired from the firearm, wherein the determination is based on the third set of data;
• and
• determine a final outcome for the tactical engagement, wherein the determination is based on comparing the indication that the laser sensor was struck by the laser, the determination on whether the target participant is struck by the simulated ammunition round, and the determination on whether the second target participant is struck by the simulated ammunition round to one another and determining which is most accurate for a predefined scenario that the tactical engagement is in.
