Abstract
Radiant energy control systems, methods, and apparatuses are provided. An example light emitting device may comprise a sensor operable to detect whether a space is occupied, and a controller in communication with the sensor and operable to cause output, via a first light emitter white light comprising a wavelength range of 380 to 420 nm, and cause output, via a second light emitter a non-white light comprising a wavelength range of 380 to 420 nm.
Claims2
A light emitting device comprising:
- a sensor configured to detect whether a space is occupied by an individual;
- a daylight sensor, wherein the daylight sensor is configured to detect natural light, and wherein the daylight sensor is configured to determine an amount of natural disinfecting energy associated with the natural light;
- and
- a controller in communication with the sensor and the daylight sensor configured to:
- cause output, via a first light and for an occupied space, of a white light;
- cause output, via a second light and for a vacant space, of a light comprising a disinfecting energy having a wavelength range of 380 to 420 nm;
- measure the second light output of the disinfecting energy;
- compare the second light output of the disinfecting energy to a required target dosage of disinfecting energy;
- and
- adjust the second light output of the disinfecting energy to meet the required target dosage of disinfecting energy.

A method comprising:
- detecting, via a sensor, whether a space is occupied by an individual or vacant;
- determining, via the sensor, if the space is occupied;
- detecting, via a daylight sensor, natural light;
- determining, via the daylight sensor, an amount of natural disinfecting energy associated with the natural light;
- outputting, via a first light and for a first time period in the space, a white light;
- outputting, via a second light and for a second time period in the space, a light comprising a disinfecting energy having a wavelength range of 380 to 420 nm
- measuring the disinfecting energy;
- comparing the disinfecting energy to a required target dosage of disinfecting energy;
- and
- adjusting the output of the disinfecting energy to meet the required target dosage of disinfecting energy.
