## Abstract

A novel maize variety designated 1PDCS86 and seed, plants and plant parts thereof are provided. Methods for producing a maize plant comprise crossing maize variety 1PDCS86 with another maize plant are provided. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into 1PDCS86 through backcross conversion and/or transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby are provided. Hybrid maize seed, plants or plant parts are produced by crossing the variety 1PDCS86 or a locus conversion of 1PDCS86 with another maize variety.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A seed, plant, plant part, or plant cell of inbred maize variety 1PDCS86, representative seed of the variety having been deposited under ATCC accession number PTA-______.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The plant part of claim 1, wherein the plant part is an embryo, ovule or pollen.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

An F1 hybrid maize seed produced by crossing the plant or plant part of claim 1 with a different maize plant.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

An F1 hybrid maize plant or plant part produced by growing the maize seed of claim 3, wherein the plant part comprises at least one cell of the F1 hybrid maize plant.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

A method for producing a second maize plant, the method comprising applying plant breeding techniques to the F1 plant or plant part of claim 4 to produce the second maize plant.

### Claim 6 (depends on 4)

A method for producing a second maize plant or plant part, the method comprising doubling haploid seed generated from a cross of the plant or plant part of claim 4 with an inducer variety, thereby producing the second maize plant or plant part.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

A method of producing a modified maize variety, the method comprising genome editing the seed, plant, plant part, or plant cell of claim 1, thereby producing the modified maize inbred variety.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

A method for producing a second maize plant, the method comprising applying plant breeding techniques to the plant or plant part of claim 1.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

A method of producing modified progeny seed, the method comprising (a) crossing or selfing the plant or plant part of claim 1 to produce a progeny seed and genome editing the progeny seed, or a plant grown therefrom, to produce modifed progeny seed; or (b) genome editing the plant or plant part of claim 1 to produce modified seed and crossing or selfing the modified seed to produce modifed progeny seed.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

A method for producing nucleic acids, the method comprising isolating nucleic acids from the seed, plant, plant part, or plant cell of claim 1.

### Claim 11

A converted seed, plant, plant part or plant cell of inbred maize variety 1PDCS86, representative seed of the maize variety 1PDCS86 having been deposited under ATCC accession number PTA-______, wherein the converted seed, plant, plant part or plant cell comprises a locus conversion, and wherein the plant or a plant grown from the converted seed, plant part or plant cell comprises the locus conversion and otherwise comprises the physiological and morphological characteristics of maize variety 1PDCS86 when grown under the same environmental conditions.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The converted seed, plant, plant part or plant cell of claim 11, wherein the locus conversion confers a property selected from the group consisting of male sterility, site-specific recombination, abiotic stress tolerance, altered phosphate, altered antioxidants, altered fatty acids, altered essential amino acids, altered carbohydrates, herbicide tolerance, insect resistance and disease resistance.

### Claim 13 (depends on 11)

A maize seed produced by crossing the plant or plant part of claim 11 with a different maize plant.

### Claim 14 (depends on 13)

A hybrid maize plant or plant part produced by growing the seed of claim 13, wherein the plant part comprises at least one cell of the hybrid maize plant.

### Claim 15 (depends on 14)

A method for producing a second maize plant, the method comprising applying plant breeding techniques to the plant or plant part of claim 14 to produce the second maize plant.

### Claim 16 (depends on 13)

A method of making a commodity plant product comprising silage, starch, fat, syrup or protein, the method comprising producing the commodity plant product from the maize plant or plant part of claim 13.

### Claim 17 (depends on 10)

A method for producing nucleic acids, the method comprising isolating nucleic acids from the seed, plant, plant part, or plant cell of claim 10.

### Claim 18

An F1 hybrid seed produced by crossing a plant or plant part of inbred maize variety 1PDCS86, representative seed of the variety having been deposited under ATCC accession number PTA-______ with a different maize plant, wherein inbred maize variety 1PDCS86 further comprises a transgene that is inherited by the seed, wherein the transgene was introduced into inbred maize variety 1PDCS86 by backcrossing or genetic transformation.

### Claim 19 (depends on 18)

A method of producing progeny seed, the method comprising crossing a plant grown from the seed of claim 18 with itself or a second plant to produce progeny seed.

### Claim 20 (depends on 18)

A method of making a commodity plant product comprising silage, starch, fat, syrup or protein, the method comprising producing the commodity plant product from the maize plant or plant part of claim 18.
