Abstract
A communication system is disclosed in which a base station serves a communication area, wherein the communication area is formed by a plurality of directional beams each covering a respective portion of the communication area and each having a different respective beam identifier. The base station communicates control information, for a communication device (UE), using at least one directional beam associated with that communication device (e.g., a UE-specific operational beam set).
Claims8
A method performed by a user equipment (UE), the method comprising:
- receiving a synchronization signal and beam-specific reference signal via a beam, wherein
- the beam-specific reference signal is based on a cell identity which is derived from the synchronization signal via the beam and an identity corresponding to the beam, and the method comprises:
- detecting system information specific to the beam based on a resource determined by information transmitted via the beam.
A mobile terminal comprising:
- a memory storing instructions;
- and
- at least one processor configured to process the instructions to:
- receive a synchronization signal and beam-specific reference signal via a beam, wherein
- the beam-specific reference signal is based on a cell identity which is derived from the synchronization signal via the beam and an identity corresponding to the beam, and the at least one processor is configured to process the instructions:
- detect system information specific to the beam based on a resource determined by information transmitted via the beam.
A method performed by a base station, the method comprising:
- transmitting a synchronization signal and beam-specific reference signal via a beam, wherein
- the beam-specific reference signal is based on a cell identity which is derived from the synchronization signal via the beam and an identity corresponding to the beam, and the method comprises:
- transmitting system information specific to the beam based on a resource determined by information transmitted via the beam.
A base station comprising:
- a memory storing instructions;
- and
- at least one processor configured to process the instructions to:
- transmit a synchronization signal and beam-specific reference signal via a beam, wherein
- the beam-specific reference signal is based on a cell identity which is derived from the synchronization signal via the beam and an identity corresponding to the beam, and the at least one processor is configured to process the instructions to:
- transmit system information specific to the beam based on a resource determined by information transmitted via the beam.
