System and method to virtually mix and audition audio content for vehicles

A system comprising:

• a sound mixer;
• and
• a computing device comprising a computer program, the computer program comprising binaural acoustic data and geometric data generated by placing an object representing a human head in each seat of a plurality of vehicles, the computer program configured to:
• receive an image of an ear of a user of the sound mixer;
• receive a selection of one of the vehicles a seat in the one of the vehicles from the user;
• receive an input audio signal from the sound mixer;
• generate an output audio signal based on the input audio signal, the image of the ear of the user, and the binaural acoustic data and geometric data of the selected vehicle;
• provide the output audio signal to headphones of the user.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing a computer program comprising instructions which when executed by a processor cause the processor to:

• provide a graphical user interface (GUI) that is interfaced with the computer program comprising head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) generated for an object representing a human head by placing the object in each seat of a plurality of vehicles;
• receive an image of an ear of a user;
• generate HRTFs of the user based on the image of the ear;
• replace the HRTFs of the object with the HRTFs of the user;
• receive selections for one of the vehicles and a seat of the one of the vehicles from the user via the GUI;
• receive an input audio signal from a sound source;
• generate an output audio signal based on the input audio signal and the HRTFs of the user;
• and
• output the output audio signal to headphones of the user.

A method comprising:

• generating a graphical user interface (GUI) that is interfaced with a computer program comprising head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) generated for an object representing a human head by placing the object in each seat of a plurality of vehicles;
• receiving an image of an ear of a user;
• generating HRTFs of the user based on the image of the ear;
• replacing the HRTFs of the object with the HRTFs of the user;
• receiving selections for one of the vehicles and a seat of the one of the vehicles from the user via the GUI;
• receiving an input audio signal from a sound source;
• generating an output audio signal based on the input audio signal and the HRTFs of the user;
• and
• providing the output audio signal to headphones of the user.
