Abstract
A thin-film lithium ion battery includes a negative electrode layer, a positive electrode layer, an electrolyte layer disposed between the positive and negative electrode layers, and a lithium layer with lithium pillars extending therefrom formed in the negative electrode layer adjoining the electrolyte layer.
Claims17
A method, comprising:
- manufacturing a battery that includes a negative electrode, an electrolyte, and a positive electrode;
- and
- forming lithium pillars in the negative electrode by charging the battery with a first charging current.
A method, comprising:
- forming a plurality of lithium pillars in a battery that includes a negative electrode, an electrolyte, and a positive electrode, by:
- charging the battery with a first charging current;
- and
- forming a homogenous lithium layer in the negative electrode.
1 more element
A method, comprising:
- forming a plurality of lithium pillars in a battery having an electrolyte layer, an electrode layer, and a metal lithium layer between the electrolyte layer and the electrode layer by slowly charging the battery for a first time period;
- forming a homogenous metal lithium layer between the plurality of metal lithium pillars and the electrolyte layer by quickly charging the battery for a second period of time after the first period of time.
