A system that provides a player a benefit based on location data associated with the player and game play history data associated with the player.

A device comprising:
- a processor;
- and
- a memory device that stores a plurality of instructions that, when executed by the processor in association with a gaming session occurring at an electronic gaming machine, cause the processor to:
- receive historical location data of a mobile device, wherein the historical location data of the mobile device is independent of any play of any game associated with the gaming session and the historical location data of the mobile device is determined prior to the gaming session based on at least one tracked location of the mobile device that is different from a location of the electronic gaming machine,
- responsive to the received historical location data of the mobile device comprising first historical location data, communicate data that results in a first customization of the electronic gaming machine, and
- responsive to the received historical location data of the mobile device comprising second, different historical location data, communicate data that results in a second, different customization of the electronic gaming machine.

- determine, based on the received historical location data, the received historical game play data and an occurrence of a designated event in association with the current gaming session, a benefit, and
- communicate data that results in a display device displaying the determined benefit.

A method of operating a device, the method comprising:
- receiving historical location data of a mobile device, wherein the historical location data of the mobile device is independent of any play of any game associated with a gaming session occurring at an electronic gaming machine and the historical location data of the mobile device is determined prior to the gaming session based on at least one tracked location of the mobile device that is different from a location of the electronic gaming machine,
