Merged 3D Spaces During Communication Sessions

A system comprising:

• a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium;
• and
• one or more processors coupled to the non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, wherein the non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprises program instructions that, when executed on the one or more processors, cause the system to perform operations comprising:
• obtaining an indication of a first surface of a first physical environment, the first physical environment comprising the first device;
• obtaining a three-dimensional (3D) alignment between a representation of the first physical environment obtained via sensor data of the first device and a representation of a second physical environment obtained via sensor data of a second device, the second physical environment comprising the second device, wherein the alignment aligns a portion of the representation of the first physical environment corresponding to the first surface with a portion of the representation of the second physical environment corresponding to a second surface of the second physical environment;
• and
• providing a view of an extended reality (XR) environment during a communication session, the XR environment comprising the representation of the first physical environment and the representation of the second physical environment aligned according to the obtained 3D alignment.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing program instructions executable via one or more processors to perform operations comprising:

• obtaining an indication of a first surface of a first physical environment, the first physical environment comprising the first device;
• obtaining a three-dimensional (3D) alignment between a representation of the first physical environment obtained via sensor data of the first device and a representation of a second physical environment obtained via sensor data of a second device, the second physical environment comprising the second device, wherein the alignment aligns a portion of the representation of the first physical environment corresponding to the first surface with a portion of the representation of the second physical environment corresponding to a second surface of the second physical environment;
• and
• providing a view of an extended reality (XR) environment during a communication session, the XR environment comprising the representation of the first physical environment and the representation of the second physical environment aligned according to the obtained 3D alignment.
