Abstract
A system for releasing analytes contained within a sample. The system comprises a housing enclosing an interior space. The system additionally comprises a sample holder having at least one receptacle configured to receive a sample containing analytes bound within the sample. The system further includes at least one light emitting diode configured to generate light sufficient to separate photo-cleavable bonds binding the analytes within the sample.
Claims21
A system for releasing analytes contained within a sample, said system comprising:
- a housing enclosing an interior space;
- a sample holder having at least one receptacle configured to receive a sample containing analytes bound within the sample;
- and
- at least one light emitting diode configured to generate light sufficient to separate photo-cleavable bonds binding the analytes within the sample.
A method for releasing analytes contained within a sample, said method comprising the steps of:
- (a) providing a system that includes—
- a housing,
- a sample holder configured to be positioned with the housing, and
- at least one light emitting diode;
- (b) placing at least one sample within the sample holder, wherein the sample contains a magnetic particle and at least one target analyte bound to said particle;
- (c) positioning the sample holder within the housing;
- (d) activating the at least one light emitting diode, so as to emit light onto the sample, wherein the light being emitted onto the sample is sufficient to release the at least one target analyte from said particle;
- and
- (e) removing the sample from the system.
