A method, comprising:

• obtaining, by a processing device, a first feature characterization representative of a first meal preparation item or action;
• determining, by the processing device, that the first feature characterization does not meet meal preparation item or action classification criteria for a set of meal preparation item or action classifications;
• determining, by the processing device, a proximity between the first feature characterization and one of a set of previous feature characterizations corresponding to unclassified meal preparation items or actions;
• generating, by the processing device, a new object classification based on the first feature characterization and the one of the set of previous feature characterizations;
• and
• outputting, by the processing device, a notification indicative of the new object classification.

A non-transitory machine-readable storage medium, storing instructions which, when executed, cause a processing device to perform operations comprising:

• obtaining a first feature characterization representative of a first meal preparation item or action;
• determining that the first feature characterization does not meet meal preparation item or action classification criteria for a set of meal preparation item or action classifications;
• determining a proximity between the first feature characterization and one of a set of previous feature characterizations corresponding to unclassified meal preparation items or actions;
• generating a new object classification based on the first feature characterization and the one of the set of previous feature characterizations;
• and
• outputting a notification indicative of the new object classification.

A system, comprising memory and a processing device coupled to the memory, wherein the processing device is configured to:

• obtain a first feature characterization representative of a first meal preparation item or action;
• determine that the first feature characterization does not meet meal preparation item or action classification criteria for a set of meal preparation item or action classifications;
• determine a proximity between the first feature characterization and one of a set of previous feature characterizations corresponding to unclassified meal preparation items or actions;
• generate a new object classification based on the first feature characterization and the one of the set of previous feature characterizations;
• and
• output a notification indicative of the new object classification.
