Universal sensor fitting for process applications

A sensor apparatus for in-line fluid measurement in a process application, the apparatus comprising:

• an integrally formed fitting body comprising:
• (i) an inlet port for in-line coupling to the process application;
• (ii) an outlet port opposite the inlet port;
• and
• (iii) a tubular wall extending between the inlet port and the outlet port, the wall having an inner surface and an outer surface, the inner surface defining a fluid flow passage providing fluid communication between the inlet port and the outlet port, a portion of the outer surface forming a recessed seat where the thickness of the tubular wall is less than the thickness of the portion of the tubular wall that surrounds the recessed seat, the tubular wall forming at least one probe aperture extending from the fluid passage to the recessed seat;
• and
• a sensor assembly including a probe portion, the sensor assembly located at least in part within the recessed seat with the probe portion extending into the aperture, the probe portion including a sensing surface that is exposed to the passage.

A universal sensor apparatus for in-line fluid measurement in a process application, the apparatus comprising:

• an integrally formed fitting body comprising:
• (i) an inlet port for in-line coupling to the process application;
• (ii) an outlet port opposite the inlet port;
• and
• (iii) a tubular wall extending between the inlet port and the outlet port, the wall having an inner surface and an outer surface, the inner surface defining a substantially uniform fluid flow passage providing fluid communication between the inlet port and the outlet port, a portion of the outer surface forming a substantially flat sensor seat, the tubular wall forming at least one probe aperture extending from the fluid passage to the sensor seat, the outer surface further forming first and second barbs proximate the inlet and outlet ports, respectively, the first barb forming a first sloped surface from the inlet port toward the outlet port wherein the diameter of the outer surface increases along the length of the first sloped surface from the inlet port toward the outlet port, the second barb forming a second sloped surface from the outlet port toward the inlet port wherein the diameter of the outer surface increases along the length of the second sloped surface from the outlet port toward the inlet port, the outer surface further forming a first flange located between and spaced from the first barb and the sensor seat, and a second flange located between and spaced from the second barb and the sensor seat, the first and second flanges forming stop surfaces that face the first and second barbs, respectively, for restricting the extent to which hoses can be attached to the sensor apparatus via the first and second barbs.
