Abstract
Isotopic compounds are provided that function as thyromimetics, which compounds have utility for treating diseases such as neurodegenerative disorders. Pharmaceutical compositions containing such compounds are also provided, as are methods of their use and preparation.

A compound of Formula (I) having the structure:
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, isomer, racemate, hydrate or solvate thereof, wherein
- R is OH, OR1 or NR2R3;
- X1 and X2 are both methyl when R is OH, OR1 or NR2R3, or
- X1 and X2 are both halo when R is NR2R3;
- R1 is alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, carbocycle, carbocyclealkyl, heterocycle or heterocyclealkyl, wherein each alkyl, carbocycle, carbocyclealkyl, heterocycle or heterocyclealkyl is optionally substituted with one or more of halo, cyano, -ORa, NRaRb, -S(O)2Ra or -S(O)2ORa;
- R2 and R3 are independently hydrogen, -ORa, -NRaRb, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, carbocycle, carbocyclealkyl, heterocycle or heterocyclealkyl, wherein each alkyl, carbocycle, carbocyclealkyl, heterocycle or heterocyclealkyl is optionally substituted with one or more of halo, cyano, -ORa, -NRaRb, -S(O)2Ra or S(O)2ORa;
- each occurrence of halo is independently chloro, bromo, fluoro or iodo;
- and
- each Ra and Rb is independently hydrogen or alkyl;
- and wherein at least one atom of the compound of Formula (I) is replaced with an isotope thereof.
