Abstract
The presently disclosed composition and methods are provided for an in situ forming nanofiber-hydrogel composite, which is formed using non-covalent binding schemes between the fiber surface and hydrogel-forming polymers. A method for healing a soft tissue defect can include applying the said composite material to a soft tissue defect.
Claims32
A scaffold complex comprising a polymeric fiber having a mean diameter of from about 100 nm to about 8000 nm operably linked to a hydrogel-binding moiety, wherein the hydrogel-binding moiety is disposed on the polymeric fiber.

A method for preparing an implant for tissue repair, the method comprising the steps of:
- providing an acellular, three-dimensional scaffold comprising polymeric fibers oriented to produce a plurality of pores;
- disposing a composition comprising a hydrogel-binding moiety on the polymeric fibers to form a complex;
- and reacting or stabilizing the complex to form a stabilized implant wherein at least a portion of the polymeric fibers are cross-linked to the hydrogel-binding moiety.
