Thermoplastic resin, composition, molded article, optical lens, and method for producing thermoplastic resin

A method for producing a thermoplastic resin, comprising

• polymerizing:
• an oxysilane compound including at least any of a diaryloxysilane compound that is any of a dialkyldiaryloxysilane, a diaryldiaryloxysilane, and a monoalkylmonoaryldiaryloxysilane, and a dialkoxysilane compound that is any of a dialkyldialkoxysilane, a diaryldialkoxysilane, and a monoalkylmonoaryldialkoxysilane;
• and
• at least a diol compound represented by the following general formula (IV):
• wherein
• Ra to Rd each independently represent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms in total and optionally having a substituent, or an aryl group having 6 to 30 carbon atoms in total and optionally having a substituent;
• the substituent is any of a halogen, a cyano group, an alkenyl group, an alkynyl group, and an alkoxy group;
• and
• m represents an integer of 1 to 3,
• wherein, in the polymerizing, the oxysilane compound and the diol compound are polymerized using a catalyst under reduced pressure in a molten state while a resulting aryl alcohol and/or alkyl alcohol is removed, and
• a thermoplastic resin including a constituent unit (A) represented by the following general formula (I) is produced:
• wherein
• Ra to Rd each independently represent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms in total and optionally having a substituent, or an aryl group having 6 to 30 carbon atoms in total and optionally having a substituent;
• Xa and Xb each independently represent an alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms in total and optionally having a substituent or an aryl group having 6 to 30 carbon atoms in total and optionally having a substituent;
• the substituent is any of a halogen, a cyano group, an alkenyl group, an alkynyl group, and an alkoxy group;
• and
• m represents an integer of 1 to 3.
