Abstract
A cooling system for a plurality of conductive cables in a gas turbine engine includes a cooling source and an electric motor disposed in a tail cone. The cooling source may comprise an electric fan or an oil pump. The cooling source may be configured for active cooling of the plurality of conductive cables. The electric fan may be in fluid communication with ambient air during operation of the gas turbine engine.
Claims5
A cooling system of a gas turbine engine, the cooling system comprising:
- a processor;
- and
- a non-transitory computer readable storage medium in electronic communication with the processor, the non-transitory computer readable storage medium having instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution by the processor cause the processor to perform operations comprising:
- detecting, by the processor, a shutdown of the gas turbine engine;
- activating, by the processor, a cooling source configured to flow a fluid through a conduit having a plurality of conductive cables disposed therein.
