## Abstract

A system, method, and non-transitory computer-readable information recording medium displays information to a user. Market data having a first portion and a second portion is displayed on a display unit of a trading device. A user focus area is detected, at the trading device. The user focus area is associated with one of the first and second portions of the market data. A first priority is assigned to the one of the first and second portions of the market data and a second priority is assigned to another one of the first and second portions of the market data. The first priority is higher than the second priority. The market data in the first and second portions is updated as a function of the first and second priorities, respectively.

## Claims

### Claim 1

(canceled)

### Claim 2

A method including:
in response to detecting, by a trading device, a user focus with respect to a display unit of the trading device, determining a user focus area of the display unit based on a field of foveal vision for the user and the user focus, wherein the user focus area is associated with a first portion of market data displayed by the display unit of the trading device;
determining, by the trading device, a second area of the display unit that includes portions of the display unit that do not include the user focus area, wherein the second area is associated a second portion of market data displayed by the display unit of the trading device;
assigning, by the trading device, priorities based on the user focus area, wherein a first priority is associated with the first portion of the market data and a second priority is assigned to the second portion of the market data, wherein the first priority is higher than the second priority;
updating, by the trading device, the first portion of the market data according to a first rate prior to being displayed in the user focus area, wherein the first rate of updating is modified based on the assigned first priority;
updating, by the trading device, the second portion of the market data according to a second rate prior to being displayed, wherein the first rate is faster than the second rate; and
displaying, by the trading device, the market data in the first portion and the market data in the second portion according to their respective modified rates of updating.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, further including a tracking mechanism configured to identify the user focus.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The method of claim 3, wherein the tracking mechanism includes at least one of a facial recognition system, an acoustic position system, a distance sensor, and an imaging sensor.

### Claim 5 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, wherein the display unit includes a plurality of display devices, wherein the user focus area and the second area are displayed on a same one of the display devices.

### Claim 6 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, wherein the display unit includes a plurality of display devices, wherein the user focus area and the second area are displayed on different ones of the display devices.

### Claim 7 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, further including highlighting, by the trading device, the user focus area on the display unit.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, wherein the user focus area is highlighted using at least one of color, motion, and flashing.

### Claim 9 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, further including providing, by the trading device, an update indication for the second area, wherein the update indication is provided in response to a change in the second portion of the market data.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The method of claim 9, wherein the update indication is provided when a change in the second portion of the market data exceeds a predetermined threshold.

### Claim 11 (depends on 9)

The method of claim 9, wherein the update indication is at least one of color, motion, and flashing.

### Claim 12 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, wherein second area includes a plurality of sub-portion areas of the display unit.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12, wherein the plurality of sub-portion areas are arranged on a plurality of display units.

### Claim 14 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12, wherein the priorities assigned to each sub-portion of the market data include a second priority and a third priority, wherein the second priority and the third priority are equal.

### Claim 15 (depends on 14)

The method of claim 14, wherein the priorities are arranged such that the second priority and the third priority are identified by a distance away from the user focus area.

### Claim 16 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, wherein the user focus corresponds to a position provided by an input device.
