Abstract
The present application provides methods, compositions and kits for determining SHD catabody levels in a biological sample, and for treating or preventing a protein aggregation disease (PAD) in an individual. Also provided are catabodies specifically recognizing amyloid beta (Aβ) peptides and methods of use thereof.

An isolated anti-Aβ catabody comprising:
- a VL comprising an LC-CDR1 comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 12, an LC-CDR2 comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 13, and an LC-CDR3 comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 14, and a VH comprising an HC-CDR1 comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 9, an HC-CDR2 comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 10, and an HC-CDR3 comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 11;
- wherein the amino acid residue at position 1 of the VL is D, the amino acid residue at position 27A of the VL is S, and the amino acid residue at position 93 of the VL is H, and wherein the numbering is according to the EU index of Kabat.
