An adhesive composition comprises about 2.5 to about 12% by weight of a biodegradable polymer; about 0.5 to about 1.5% by weight of a preservative; and at least 10% by weight of water.

An adhesive composition for adhering an object such as a wig, extension or weave to human skin, comprising:
- about 2.5 to about 12% by weight of a sodium polyitaconate;
- about 0.5 to about 1.5% by weight of a preservative;
- and
- at least 10% by weight of water.
