Abstract
The present invention is a method and apparatus for acoustic focusing hardware and implementations.

A system for acoustically concentrating particles, comprising:
- a capillary having a central axis and an outer wall,
- the outer wall having an outer cross-sectional profile, and
- the capillary being configured to contain therein a fluid comprising a plurality of particles therein;
- and
- a first vibration source,
- the first vibration source comprising a groove complementary to a portion of the outer cross-sectional profile of the capillary, and
- the groove of the first vibration source being coupled to the outer wall of the capillary.

A method, comprising:
- flowing, in a capillary, a fluid comprising a plurality of particles;
- the capillary having an outer wall that has an outer cross-sectional profile,
- the outer wall of the capillary being coupled to a groove of a first vibration source,
- the capillary having a central axis,
- the groove of the first vibration source being complementary to the outer cross-sectional profile of the capillary;
- and
- operating the first vibration source so as to acoustically concentrate the plurality of particles to the central axis of the capillary.
