Abstract
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, selecting a first network element for providing a first portion of a communication service to a communication device in an uplink direction based on first radio frequency conditions detected by the communication device, and selecting a second network element for providing the first portion of the communication service to the communication device in a downlink direction based on the first radio frequency conditions detected by the communication device, where the second network element is different from the first network element. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Claims20
A device, comprising:
- a processing system including a processor;
- and
- a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
- obtaining a first report, wherein the first report includes first data that indicates first radio frequency conditions detected by a mobile communication device;
- processing at least the first data to select a first network device to provide first resources in a provisioning of a communication service to the mobile communication device in an uplink direction and a second network device to provide second resources in the provisioning of the communication service to the mobile communication device in a downlink direction, wherein the second network device is different from the first network device;
- and
- issuing at least one command to the first network device and the second network device that causes the first network device to allocate the first resources for the mobile communication device as part of the communication service in the uplink direction and causes the second network device to allocate the second resources for the mobile communication device as part of the communication service in the downlink direction.
A non-transitory machine-readable medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processing system including a processor, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
- based on first radio frequency conditions detected by a communication device, selecting a first network element for providing a first portion of a communication service to the communication device in an uplink direction;
- and
- based on the first radio frequency conditions detected by the communication device, selecting a second network element for providing the first portion of the communication service to the communication device in a downlink direction, wherein the second network element is different from the first network element.
A method, comprising:
- measuring, by a processing system including a processor, a plurality of signals, wherein the plurality of signals is associated with at least two network elements;
- generating, by the processing system and based on the measuring, a report that indicates characteristics associated with each of the plurality of signals;
- transmitting, by the processing system, the report;
- and
- based on the transmitting of the report, obtaining, by the processing system, a first portion of a communication service by transmitting a first signal to a first network element included in the at least two network elements and receiving a second signal from a second network element included in the at least two network elements, wherein the second network element is different from the first network element.
