Abstract
A detection device includes a camera and a detector. The camera captures an image of a human face. The detector detects a position of a human eye based on the captured image output from the camera by template matching.

A detection device, comprising:
- a camera configured to capture an image of a human face;
- and
- a detector configured to detect a position of a human eye based on the captured image output from the camera by template matching.
An image display system, comprising:
- a display configured to display a parallax image to be projected to two human eyes through an optical system;
- a barrier configured to define a traveling direction of image light for the parallax image to generate parallax between the two human eyes;
- a camera configured to capture an image of a human face;
- a detector configured to detect positions of the two human eyes based on the captured image output from the camera by template matching;
- and
- a controller configured to control the display based on the positions of the two human eyes detected by the detector.
