Exchange and display of digital content

A computer-implemented method of displaying digital content, the method comprising:

• with a display device comprising a housing that includes a processor of the one or more processors, a visual output device, and an indicator component:
• establishing a secure communications session between the display device and a mobile device,
• wherein the secure communications session is associated with a user account;
• receiving, by the display device from the mobile device during the secure communications session, an image-based item associated with a unique cryptographic token;
• determining, by the processor of the display device based on metadata parsed from the unique cryptographic token by the display device, provenance information and chain-of-ownership information regarding the cryptographic token;
• determining, by the processor of the display device, whether user account information corresponds to an item included in the chain-of-ownership information;
• and
• in response to determining that the user account information corresponds to the item included in the chain-of-ownership information, performing, by the processor of the display device, operations comprising:
• displaying the image-based item via the visual output device;
• and
• based on the provenance information of the cryptographic token,
• causing the indicator component to provide an indication of authenticity for the image-based item.

One or more computer-readable media excluding transitory signals and having computer-executable instructions stored thereon, the instructions configured to cause at least one processor in a digital display device to display digital content, the operations comprising:

• determining, by the processor of the display device based on metadata parsed from at least one unique cryptographic token, provenance information and chain-of-ownership information regarding the unique cryptographic token,
• wherein the cryptographic token is associated with an image-based digital artwork, and
• wherein the cryptographic token is a non-fungible token (NFT);
• displaying the digital artwork via the output device;
• and
• wherein the metadata includes user metadata and artwork metadata,
• wherein the user metadata includes artworks created, owned, rented, or leased by a user, and
• wherein the artwork metadata includes at least three of:
• artwork title, artwork date of creation, aspect ratio of the artwork, artist name, edition information, or narrative information.

One or more computer-readable media excluding transitory signals and having computer-executable instructions stored thereon, the instructions configured to cause at least one processor of a mobile phone or tablet device to perform operations comprising:

• establishing, by the at least one processor, a first secure wireless communications session between the mobile phone or tablet device and a first visual display device and a second secure wireless communications session between the mobile phone or tablet device and a second visual display device;
• generating and displaying, on a display of the mobile phone or tablet device, a first graphical user interface (GUI) structured to allow a user to:
• perform a first cast operation, comprising casting a first image-based digital artwork associated with a first non-fungible token (NFT), via the first secure wireless communications session, to the first visual display device;
• or
• perform a second cast operation, comprising casting a second image-based digital artwork associated with a second non-fungible token (NFT), via the second secure wireless communications session, to the second visual display device;
• in response to detecting a first user input via the first GUI, performing at least one of the first casting operation or the second casting operation;
• and
• generating and displaying, on the display of the mobile phone or tablet device, a second graphical user interface (GUI) structured to allow the user to adjust properties associated with the first casting operation or the second casting operation, the properties relating to two or more of:
• music to be played concurrently with displaying the first image-based digital artwork or the second image-based digital artwork;
• duration of time for displaying the first image-based digital artwork or the second image-based digital artwork;
• aspect ratio of the first image-based digital artwork or the second image-based digital artwork;
• mat color for the first image-based digital artwork or the second image-based digital artwork;
• artwork information panel for the first image-based digital artwork or the second image-based digital artwork;
• ownership status display setting for the first image-based digital artwork or the second image-based digital artwork.
