Abstract
A battery module includes at least one cell having a positive terminal, a negative terminal, and a voltage and a current rating. A first electrically conductive heat pipe is thermally and electrically connected to the positive terminal. A second electrically conductive heat pipe is thermally and electrically connected to the negative terminal. The first and second heat pipes have the voltage and the current rating.

A battery module, comprising:
- at least one cell having a positive terminal, a negative terminal, and a voltage and a current rating;
- a first electrically conductive heat pipe thermally and electrically connected to the positive terminal;
- and
- a second electrically conductive heat pipe thermally and electrically connected to the negative terminal;
- the first and second heat pipes having the voltage and the current rating.
A battery module, comprising:
- a case having walls defining an interior;
- at least one cell in the interior having a positive terminal, a negative terminal, and a voltage and a current rating;
- a first electrically conductive heat pipe in the interior mounted to one of the walls and thermally and electrically connected to the positive terminal;
- and
- a second electrically conductive heat pipe in the interior mounted to another of the walls and thermally and electrically connected to the negative terminal;
- and
- the first and second heat pipes having the voltage and the current rating.
A method of transferring heat within a battery module having at least one cell and heat pipes connected to the at least one cell, the method comprising conducting heat between a terminal of the at least one cell and one of the heat pipes.
