Abstract
Some embodiments are directed to image registration. A rotation angle is determined and subsequently a translation vector. The rotation angle and translation vector together defining an alignment transformation between a first image and a second image. Determining the rotation angle may include iterating over multiple potential rotation angles, and determining alignment.
Claims18
A computer-implemented image registration method, the method comprising
- obtaining a first image and a second image, the first image being a bright field image and the second image being a dark field image,
- preprocessing the first image by background subtraction, and
- determining a rotation angle and subsequently determining a translation vector, the rotation angle and translation vector together defining an alignment transformation between the first image and the second image, wherein
- determining the rotation angle comprises
- iterating over multiple potential rotation angles, wherein an iteration for a potential rotation angle comprises
- rotating the first or second image over the potential rotation angle, and
- determining alignment between the rotated image and the not-rotated image, and
- selecting the rotation angle with best alignment.

An image registration system, the system comprising
- a communication interface configured for obtaining a first image and a second image, the first image being a bright field image and the second image being a dark field image, and
- a processor system configured for
- preprocessing the first image by background subtraction,
- determining a rotation angle and subsequently determining a translation vector, the rotation angle and translation vector together defining an alignment transformation between the first image and the second image, wherein
