Abstract
The present disclosure relates generally to systems, methods, and devices for interpreting neural signals to determine a desired movement of a target, transmitting electrical signals to the target, and dynamically monitoring subsequent neural signals or movement of the target to change the signal being delivered if necessary, so that the desired movement is achieved. In particular, the neural signals are decoded using a feature extractor, decoder(s) and a body state observer to determine the electrical signals that should be sent.
Claims20
A method of creating a neural bridge, comprising:
- noninvasively measuring neural activity of a subject by electroencephalography (EEG) using electrodes placed on a scalp of the subject;
- determining a desired movement of a body part of the subject based on the neural activity of the subject noninvasively measured by EEG;
- and
- causing the desired movement of the body part of the subject by delivering an electrical stimulation to the body part using transcutaneous stimulation electrodes of a transcutaneous neurostimulation sleeve worn on the body part of the subject.
A system for creating a neural bridge, comprising:
- a transcutaneous neurostimulation sleeve configured to be worn on a body part of a subject and including transcutaneous stimulation electrodes;
- and
- an electronic data processing device programmed to perform operations including:
- receiving electroencephalography (EEG) data from the subject;
- determining a desired movement of the body part of the subject based on the EEG data received from the subject;
- and
- causing the desired movement of the body part of the subject by delivering an electrical stimulation to the body part using the transcutaneous stimulation electrodes of the transcutaneous neurostimulation sleeve worn on the body part of the subject.
A method of creating a neural bridge, comprising:
- measuring neural activity of a brain of a subject;
- determining a desired movement of a body part of the subject based on the measured neural activity of the brain of the subject;
- causing the desired movement of the body part of the subject by delivering an electrical stimulation to the body part using transcutaneous stimulation electrodes of a transcutaneous neurostimulation sleeve worn on the body part of the subject;
- tracking a state of the body part of the subject;
- and
- performing electrode movement compensation (EMC) based on the tracked state of the body part of the subject.
