Abstract
A radiation detector head assembly includes a detector column. The detector column includes a detector having a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface. The detector column also includes a first collimator disposed over the first surface of the detector configured for use during imaging scans involving radiation in a first energy range. The detector column further includes a second collimator disposed over the second surface of the detector configured for use during imaging scans involving radiation in a second energy range different from the first energy range.

A radiation detector head assembly, comprising:
- a detector column, comprising:
- a detector having a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface;
- a first collimator disposed over the first surface of the detector configured for use during imaging scans involving radiation in a first energy range;
- and
- a second collimator disposed over the second surface of the detector configured for use during imaging scans involving radiation in a second energy range different from the first energy range.
A nuclear medicine multi-head imaging system, comprising:
- a gantry defining a bore configured to accept an object to be imaged, wherein the gantry is configured to rotate about the bore;
- a plurality of detector units mounted to the gantry and configured to rotate with the gantry around the bore in rotational steps, each detector unit configured to sweep about a corresponding axis and acquire imaging information while sweeping about the corresponding axis, wherein each detector unit comprises a detector head comprising:
- a detector column, comprising:
- a detector having a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface;
- a first collimator disposed over the first surface of the detector configured for use during imaging scans involving radiation in a first energy range;
- and
- a second collimator disposed over the second surface of the detector configured for use during imaging scans involving radiation in a second energy range different from the first energy range.
A method for changing a collimator in a detector head of a nuclear medicine (NM) multi-head imaging system, comprising:
- receiving an input to change the collimator in the detector head of the NM multi-head imaging system;
- and
- rotating a detector column from a first position to a second position or a second position to a first position in response to the input, wherein the detector column comprises a detector having a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface, a first collimator disposed over the first surface of the detector configured for use during imaging scans involving radiation in a first energy range, and a second collimator disposed over the second surface of the detector configured for use during imaging scans involving radiation in a second energy range different from the first energy range.
