Abstract
A fuel power transfer system for an engine may include a cryogenic fuel supply, a fuel pump in fluid communication with the cryogenic fuel supply, a multi-position valve in fluid communication with the fuel pump and a combustion chamber of the engine, a fuel turbine operatively coupled to the fuel pump and having a primary discharge port in fluid communication with the combustion chamber, a primary heat exchanger in fluid communication between the multi-position valve and the fuel turbine, and a gearbox operatively coupled to the fuel turbine and the fuel pump and configured to transfer power from the fuel turbine to the engine.
Claims15
A method of controlling a fuel power transfer system for an engine, comprising:
- determining, by a controller, a startup condition;
- controlling, by the controller, a motor-generator in response to the startup condition;
- controlling, by the controller, a multi-position valve in response to the startup condition;
- and
- controlling, by the controller, an accessory clutch in response to the startup condition.
An article of manufacture including a tangible, non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:
- determining, by the processor, a startup condition;
- controlling, by the processor, a motor-generator in response to the startup condition;
- controlling, by the processor, a multi-position valve in response to the startup condition;
- and
- controlling, by the processor, an accessory clutch in response to the startup condition.
