Abstract
Rotational devices that include a substrate with a coated surface are described. The coated surface can include an alloy layer with molybdenum or tungsten and at least one element selected from the group consisting of nickel, cobalt, chromium, tin, phosphorous, iron, magnesium and boron. Systems including the rotational devices are also described.

A rotational device comprising a substrate configured to rotate about an axis, wherein at least one surface of the substrate comprises a coated surface, and wherein the coated surface comprises a surface coating, wherein the surface coating comprises an alloy layer comprising (i) molybdenum and (ii) at least one element selected from the group consisting of nickel, tungsten, cobalt, chromium, tin, phosphorous, iron, magnesium and boron or at least one compound comprising one or more of nickel, tungsten, cobalt, chromium, tin, phosphorous, iron, magnesium or boron.
